Scratcher Overview
 If you've ever had
a cast on your arm or leg you know just how much it can itch and how maddening it is to
not be able to reach it. The cast scratcher was originally developed at the urging of an
orthopedic surgeon looking for a way to help his patients with hand and leg casts relieve
their itching. Much more effective than pencils, wooden spoons or other items that can get
lost in the cast, the cast scratcher is a narrow version of the standard back scratcher
with a very shallow scratching edge. Very effective and it will keep your pencils
where they belong - on your desk.
Features of this Hardwood Cast Scratcher™ include:
- All Hardwood Construction - the cast scratcher's handle is solid walnut
hardwood and the scratcher stave itself is a single piece of red oak*.
- Hand Built - the cast scratcher's 0.875" wide red oak stave is
bent using steam pressure then the end is carved to form the scratcher edge. Then
the walnut handles are glued on (the total handle thickness through the stave and both
handle halves is 0.625" - slightly slimmer than our back scratchers), the blank is
routed, finish sanded and drilled with a 1/2" hole for easy hanging. Finally, the
entire cast scratcher is finished with a protective coat of clear lacquer.
- Universal Design - the cast scratcher's generous 20.0" length and
the low arc 0.875" scratcher edge makes it possible for users to reach down inside a
cast and conveniently scratch anywhere it itches.
- Includes Leather Wrist Thong - This hardwood cast scratcher includes a
natural leather wrist thong for easy hanging.
 100% American Made
- all parts used in the construction of these cast scratchers are made from American hardwood
and all cast scratchers are 100% made in America.
